How do I open an Offshore Account?

Opening an offshore account usually involves speaking to an international bank in your home country, or physically going to a country offshore. Unfortunately big international banks will not keep account details confidential under pressure, while going to an offshore jurisdiction costs time and money, without the guarantee of securing the offshore account. As a result, many people prefer to use an agent, who guarantees to open an account for them without incurring the expense of physical travel.

What documents do I need?

If you want to open an offshore account, you will always be asked for a valid passport/driving license and proof of address. If you are not asked for these documents, you are likely being scammed.

How much does it cost?

Although it will cost a couple of hundred dollars to open an account, later on fees are generally minimal. Additionally the cost of opening an account should be judged against the tax-savings you will make, and other possible investments such as tax free stocks and CD’s.
